Where are they now? Brian Donnelly
It was 1991 and he had just graduated from Red Bank High School in Little Silver, New Jersey. He had decided to play football at Kutztown University but like so many others, within a short time on campus, he discovered rugby. He put his heart and soul into his new sport and fought for a spot in the starting line-up. It didn’t come as quickly as expected but when he got his chance, Brian Donnelly never looked back.
Brian played prop. He was a charter member of a rough and tumble group of Kutztown forwards that dominated their competition, up and down the Eastern Seaboard. His team was the first in Kutztown history, to qualify for the USA Rugby national tournament, sweet sixteen. The year was 1996—a very momentous year for Brian. Not only did he and his teammates have stellar rugby careers, Brian was named to the USA Rugby Collegiate All-American Team. If that wasn’t enough magic for one year, it was also the year that he married his Kutztown University sweetheart, Mari Ann Talbot. After graduation, Brian and Mari Ann moved to the Washington D.C. area and Brian continued his rugby career. He competed in the top tier of American rugby, while playing for the Washington Rugby Club, in the national men’s super league.
Brian and Mari Ann now live in Stevensvillle, Maryland along with their three sons, Logan, Trey and Cade. Brian works as a federal account manager with Oracle Technologies. Oracle Technology, engineers an integrated stack of software and hardware that entails deployments across a wide variety of industries, in one hundred and forty five countries, worldwide. On his off time, Brian and his family spend time enjoying the life that Queen Ann County, Maryland offers them. Living in the heart of the Chesapeake Bay, the Donnelly’s spend time sailing, and enjoying the multitude of water and sports activities available to them. You can contact Brian through his Facebook page and arrange to join him at a Kutztown rugby function in the near future.
